One current Chelsea player has been compared with Barcelona’s star player Lamine Yamal in what is a huge compliment.
To be honest, this player has been compared with all sorts of legends of the game so it will come as no surprise to hear this comparison as well now.
Just earlier this week, Estevao Willian was being compared with names like Neymar and Eden Hazard and it seems to be a weekly occurrence.
He has had an incredible start to his Chelsea career and has been on the lips on many pundits and fans alike. When he gets the ball you can just see fans standing up on their feet with excitement and anticipation. There aren’t many players that can do that to fans by just getting the ball.
But Barcelona and Spain’s Lamine Yamal is certainly another player who does that. I like to call them maverick players.

This is the belief of Brazilian legend Zico.
As cited on X, Zico said on Estevao Willian this week:
“He’s a very good player. He shares a lot of characteristics with Yamal. He has a lot of ability with his feet, he’s very strong and I think he can become a very good player and do a lot of good things for Chelsea.”
Whilst I do get the comparisons and can see them too, it’s important that we don’t put too much pressure on a very young player who is still bound to be quite raw. We can all see how good he is and believe he will become a world beater, but too much pressure can sometimes hurt these players so it’s important to stay grounded.
