‘With His Pace’ – Club Missing Aston Villa New Boy Claims Former Midfielder | OneFootball

Former Bayern Munich midfielder Dietmar Hamann is of the view that the Bavarian giants are missing Aston Villa striker Nicolas Jackson.

Last season, Bayern Munich signed Jackson on a season-long loan from Chelsea and the Senegal international made 15 goal contributions in 34 competitions for the German giants as they again won another Bundesliga title.

He often provided cover for Harry Kane in Munich.

Following the expiry of his loan with the Bundesliga giants, the club decided not to make his move permanent and he returned to Chelsea, but Aston Villa came calling for him.

It was suggested that Jackson preferred a move to Atletico Madrid, but the La Liga outfit pulled themselves out of the race, as Chelsea wanted a permanent sale of the player and he joined Villa.

Bayern Munich brought in Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven this summer to strengthen their attacking department, but they drew 0-0 against Schalke in the Bundesliga at the weekend.

Hamann was not impressed with the Bavarian giants’ performance against Schalke and stressed that they are missing the experience and goal contributions of Leon Goretzka, who joined Villa as a free agent this summer and Jackson.

He admitted that he was not the biggest fan of Jackson but pointed out that Bayern Munich are missing his pace, which he used to create space for his team-mates.

“People are always saying they are better than last year”, Hamann said on Sky Sport 90.

“They are not better than last year, because the two players who have joined are [Nathaniel] Brown and Saibari.”

“They lost Raphael Guerreiro, Leon Goretzka and Nicolas Jackson; that is over 100 appearances and more than 25 goals, and Jackson’s pace.

“I was not the biggest fan of Jackson.

“But with his pace, he stretched the play and created space for others.”

The 25-year-old striker made his Aston Villa debut against champions Arsenal and has a huge fan in the dugout in the shape of Unai Emery.

Aston Villa forked out an initial £45m to sign Jackson and former Senegal star Mamadou Diallo thinks that he can be an elite player in the Premier League if he is able to improve his finishing.
