On the morning of Friday, November 7, the Mexican Under-17 team defeated their Ivory Coast counterparts 1-0 in their second game of the group stage of the Qatar 2025 World Cup, thus achieving their first victory in the tournament, which places them in third position in Group F.

The Rojiblanca youth academy was represented in this match by Jhonnatan Grajales, who wore the captain's armband and played 45 minutes, performing defensive duties and joining the attack when the team needed him. After his departure, Gael García took over the captaincy and remained on the field for 78 minutes, creating opportunities from midfield and assisting in the play that sealed the victory for Mexico with a great free kick that Ian Olvera headed into the back of the net.
