Liverpool have been clever with their transfer dealings in the last decade.
Under the leadership of former manager Jurgen Klopp, they signed the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker and many other players who went on to become fan favourites at Anfield.
However, they had some flops as well and one of them was midfielder Naby Keita.
The former RB Leipzig midfielder struggled with injury issues at Anfield and his time is not fondly remembered by the fans.
Whenever they needed a presence in the midfield, Keita was out with his fitness problems.
He left them to join Bundesliga side Werder Bremen in order to revive his career but even that move has not worked for him.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Liverpool flop is now on the verge of leaving the Bundesliga side to join Ferencvaros Budapest.
The talks are progressing well between both the parties but nothing has been signed yet, even though they are optimistic of doing that.
The transfer could be finalised within the next 2-3 days as reported by Plettenberg.
Even in the Bundesliga, Keita failed to make an impact following his departure from Liverpool.
He was often demoted to the bench and whenever he was fit, he did not look like the player he once was a few years ago.
The journalist wrote on his X account:
“Ferencvaros Budapest are on the verge of a surprising transfer of Naby Keita.

“Deal not finalized yet but it’s progressing well. Contracts have not yet been signed as the medical is not yet finalized.
“The 29-year-old midfielder is allowed to leave Werder Bremen in the winter. According to BILD, Ferencvaros intend to loan Keïta from January 2025 for one year. Keita’s contract with Bremen runs until June 30, 2026.
“His transfer to the Europa League participant could be finalized within the next 2-3 days.”
After making just five appearances for Bremen, Keita is about to start a new chapter in his career.
He will be hoping to regain his form, considering that at the age of just 29, he has a lot of time left in his career.
There has never been any doubt about the talent of the Guinea international but his fitness has been the stumbling block in his career.
