FC Bayern may have continued their record-breaking run with a 3-0 away win in Mönchengladbach, but Harry Kane’s personal run of success came to an end. The English superstar went without a goal or assist for the first time in weeks.
It was a hard-fought victory for the German record champions. Despite an early red card for Gladbach’s Jens Castrop, Vincent Kompany’s team struggled to break down their deep-lying opponents for a long time. Joshua Kimmich put Bayern ahead after an hour, before Raphael Guerreiro and shooting star Lennart Karl made the victory perfect.
For Harry Kane, on the other hand, the afternoon was less fortunate. Although the 32-year-old was committed and kept looking for depth and finishing, this time he lacked that last bit of luck.

The moment seemed to have arrived in the 62nd minute: Kane made a determined break through after a pass from Diaz and scored with a powerful strike. The goal celebrations were already in full swing, but the flag went up – offside. Only a few centimetres separated the Englishman from his tenth scoring game in a row.
The score remained at zero. In the end, Kane went 90 minutes without a goal or assist – something that has been a rarity this season. His impressive run of nine Bundesliga games in a row with at least one scoring point thus comes to an end.
Despite the goalless performance of his star striker, coach Vincent Kompany sees no cause for concern. The Belgian has already praised Kane’s consistent performances in recent weeks, but has repeatedly emphasised that his value goes beyond just scoring goals.
In fact, the England international was also involved in several dangerous moves in Gladbach, often dropping back to get the game going and drawing opponents out of the defence. For Kompany, Kane remains an indispensable fixture in Bayern’s game.
There is not much time to think about the end of his streak anyway. The DFB Cup match at 1. FC Köln is already scheduled for next Wednesday – a new opportunity for Kane to continue his impressive form and start a new streak.
