Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are one of several interested parties looking at Bologna central-midfielder Mattias Svanberg (23), according to Kicker. The Sweden international is heading into the final year of his contract and is unlikely to extend, meaning a departure this summer could be possible.

VfL have strengthened their midfielder with the signing of Croatia international Bartol Franjić (22), who can also operate in defence, but will allow both Josuha Guilavogui (31) and Elvis Rexhbecaj (24) to leave the club this summer should they receive suitable offers. Wolfsburg are currently in the market for a successor to Xaver Schlager, who joined RB Leipizig last month for €12m.

Svanberg has played 122 games across all competitions for Bologna since his move from Malmö FF in 2018 and operates as a box-to-box midfielder. Per the report, the Swede would be available for a fee between €8m-€10m, a suitable figure for a position that Wolfsburg are in need of strengthening.
