Wolfsburg have tabled a bid worth about million, roughly .6 million, for Toulouse centre-back Charlie Cresswell, according to David Ornstein. The offer is below the Ligue 1 clubs valuation, and there is interest from elsewhere in Europe.

Cresswell has previously featured on Sunderlands shortlist as part of a long-term defensive plan. The Black Cats viewed the England Under-21 defender as Premier League ready with strong resale potential, though they never moved to a formal bid.

Born in Preston and raised in York, he joined Leeds United in 2013 and signed professional terms in 2019. He debuted for the senior side in the EFL Cup in September 2020, then captained the under-23s to the Premier League 2 Division 2 title and was nominated for Player of the Season.

His Premier League bow came against West Ham United in September 2021. After extending his deal, he spent a productive loan at Millwall, scoring twice on his debut and proving a dependable presence in the Championship.

Cresswell moved to Toulouse on a permanent deal in July 2024 for an undisclosed fee. He has adapted quickly, impressing scouts with aerial strength, aggression and composure in possession.

Internationally, he was part of Englands UEFA European Under-21 Championship wins in 2023 and 2025. He scored in the opening game of the latter tournament and played every minute, including the final victory over Germany, earning a Team of the Tournament place. He is the son of former professional Richard Cresswell.
