Wolves’ Arokodare set for Ajax loan after deal agreed | OneFootball

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Tolu Arokodare is close to leaving Wolves after Ajax agreed a season-long loan.

The move includes an option to buy for around £17 million. Ajax will cover his full 2026/27 wages and have paid a £1 million loan fee, with extra bonuses tied to European qualification. Wolves signed him for nearly £24 million last summer.

Both club and player have worked on his exit all summer. He was initially left out of the pre-season camp in Portugal. He was later flown in for one training session to cover Adam Armstrong’s calf injury, but did not play in a closed-doors friendly against Estoril, watching from the stands.

After Wolves returned to Compton, a session was cancelled when he refused to leave the first-team group, and extra security were brought in to prevent a repeat. He was not banned from the training ground but did not feature in friendlies against Maidenhead and Real Sociedad.

He later used social media to criticise media reports as inaccurate, without specifying which details, and he did not deny the incident. Fiorentina and Trabzonspor pursued him, the latter seeing an accepted bid rejected by the player, who preferred Italy, before he agreed to move to the Netherlands with Ajax.
