Wolves backed to pursue 'ambitious' Arsenal transfer - He'd be "an absolute dream" | OneFootball

Wolves fan pundit Thomas Woodhall believes Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri would be a 'dream' addition for Cesar Peixoto.

Wolves have been told to sign a winger ahead of the transfer deadline, with Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri namechecked as a potential dream addition.

Cesar Peixoto has enjoyed a positive start to life at Molineux, with the Portuguese head coach picking up four points from his opening two games, whilst they have progressed into the third round of the EFL Cup.

As well as that, performances have been encouraging, with Fer Lopez emerging as a key player under the new boss.

Yet, one major concern among the fan base is the lack of depth in the final third, as Wolves lack senior options behind Mateus Mane and Rodrigo Gomes down both flanks, with new signing Rafiki Said set for a spell out injured.

Wolves told to target Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri

Peixoto has already made it clear that he wants a new attacking wide option, and it’s believed that the club are hoping to finalise a deal for someone in that role, with Amario Cozier-Duberry a target.

But, when asked by FLW about a player he would love to see the club sign, Wolves fan pundit Thomas Woodhall made a bold claim, as he explained why Nwaneri would be the ‘dream’ addition.

“It depends on how realistic we’re talking, as non-realistic the possibilities are endless.

“In terms of realistic ones, Jordan James was the one. Obviously, he has joined, and he was one of the players that you really wanted us to get through the door.

“Maybe Nick Pope would be good, as a homegrown keeper would be good. Another one that’s here, I’d love to see Ladislav Krejci to stay and play.

“But, an absolute dream would be someone down the wing. I’m not convinced about Rafiki Said, so the dream would be Ethan Nwaneri.

“That kid has got something special. I know it would only be a loan, but he is the kind of player that would take us to another level, and we’re already at a good level in this league.

“You saw it a couple of years ago, and last season he was at Marseille, he is a touch of class.”

Firstly, this is obviously very ambitious, and it would be a huge surprise if Nwaneri did move to the Championship.

Clearly, the England youth international is way down the pecking order at Arsenal, so he does need a loan move to continue his development, as Nwaneri is outrageously talented, and you forgot that at 19, he is still so young.

So, the Gunners will see him as someone who could play a big role at the Emirates Stadium in the future, but, right now, he needs to be playing, which didn't happen as much as they would've wanted at Marseille after he joined in January.

As outlined above, there is an expectation that Nwaneri will go to a top five league, but, the one thing Wolves could possibly offer over other clubs is guaranteed first-team football, and Peixoto’s style of play would suit the teenager.

Wolves must strengthen their attack before the transfer deadline

Following on from that, even if it’s not Nwaneri, Wolves must secure at least one new attacker before the transfer deadline.

The club are well-stocked in most positions, but the lack of depth out wide is a concern, and they particularly need competition for Gomes.

The links to Cozier-Duberry show that the club are keen on a left-footed player who can cut in from the right, and that sort of profile would undoubtedly improve the squad.

So, whilst it may not be Nwaneri, if Wolves can add real quality in that role, Peixoto’s squad will be looking in very good shape as they try to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
