Wolves ended their season with a 1-1 draw at fellow relegated Burnley, a night that still delivered a landmark debut.
Ladislav Krejci’s header hit Florentino’s arm, the referee awarded a penalty and Adam Armstrong converted to put Wolves ahead. The game finished 1-1. According to ExpressAndStar.com, Joao Gomes was omitted amid an expected summer move, with Atletico Madrid a likely destination and talks ongoing.
Academy midfielder Jerome Abbey became Wolves’ youngest Premier League player at 16 years, eight months and eight days, coming on in the 75th minute at Turf Moor. The Telford Thomas School student had previously been involved with the first team.
The draw sealed a winless Premier League away campaign. Wolves are one of only two clubs across Europe’s top five leagues without an away victory this season, alongside Pisa in Serie A. They are the seventh Premier League team to finish a season winless away, the first since Hull City in 2009/10.
A win would have lifted Wolves off the bottom, instead they finish last, a position held since late August. This was only the second final-day Premier League fixture between teams already relegated.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde was also absent and academy defender Ethan Sutherland was included alongside Abbey. Armstrong’s strike was only his second for Wolves since January, and the club hope he will be scoring regularly in the Championship next season.
