Wolves have contacted Marseille over a possible loan for Angel Gomes, with the four-cap England midfielder, 25, viewed as a January option to bolster Rob Edwards' midfield at Molineux.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, discussions are yet to move forward, with a temporary switch still being considered. The outlet adds that Marseille could be open to a sale and may not demand a large fee, and that an early departure could suit all parties.

Gomes joined the Ligue 1 club on a free last summer, signing through 2028. He has 19 appearances and four goals this season, but his minutes have dipped in recent weeks under Roberto De Zerbi.

Wolves are seeking midfield reinforcements amid links away for Joao Gomes and Andre this month.

A Manchester United academy graduate, Gomes left Old Trafford in 2020 after 10 senior games, five in the Premier League, then spent five seasons at Lille, making 134 appearances and helping them to two fifth-place finishes and one fourth.

His Lille form led to England recognition and four caps in 2024, though he is yet to feature under current Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel. London-born, he has aspirations of Tuchel's England World Cup squad and will need regular action between now and the summer to make an impression on the German manager.
