Gary O’Neil could be back in the dugout at Molineux after reports that Wolverhampton Wanderers are in talks to bring back their former manager.

Wolves sacked Vítor Pereira at the weekend following a winless start to the 2025/26 campaign. Pereira had a bright start at the club but now Wolves are bottom of the Premier League with just two points from their first 10 league games.

According to journalist John Percy of Telegraph Sport, the West Midlands side are currently in talks with the 42-year-old.

Former midfielder O'Neil began his managerial career at Bournemouth before joining Wolves and guiding them to a respectable 14th place in the league. However, the manager was sacked in December 2024 after 11 defeats from his side's first 16 league games.

The club are not exclusively sounding out O'Neil though, with Rob Edwards also mooted for the position.

Wolves are next in action on Saturday when they will be hoping for a new-manager bounce as they face a tricky trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.
