Wolves interested in Marseille’s Angel Gomes

Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking at a move for Olympique de Marseille midfielder Angel Gomes (25), as per a report from Foot Mercato.

The England international has struggled in the south of France since he joined the club in the summer as a free agent from Lille OSC. On the weekend, he was not included in Roberto De Zerbi’s matchday squad for the 3-1 win over RC Lens, with the club and player keen on an exit this winter.

Wolves are looking for reinforcements in midfield and are reportedly interested in a loan deal with an obligation to buy if the team can stave off relegation from the Premier League this season. Wolves currently sit bottom of the table, 17 points adrift of safety.

It would be a return to England for the midfielder, who came up through the Manchester United academy system. He last made an appearance in the Premier League in 2020.
