Wolves are among the clubs chasing the signature of Jordan Holsgrove

Wolves are back in the Championship after suffering relegation from the Premier League.

Cesar Peixoto has been appointed as the new head coach in place of Rob Edwards, and he has been tasked with guiding the club to promotion at the first attempt.

The Old Gold spent eight seasons in the top flight, but finished bottom of the first division, earning just 20 points.

Peixoto will be hoping to shape the squad to his liking between now and the 1 September transfer deadline.

Wolves have already added Rafiki Said and Kieran Trippier to their squad, as well as bring back Raul Jimenez as a free agent.

And Ladislav Krejci has also joined on a permanent basis after spending last season on loan at Molineux, with further additions likely in the final weeks of the window.

It has been reported by Portuguese outlet Record that Wolves are chasing the signature of Jordan Holsgrove from Estoril.

It’s believed that the Championship side have made an enquiry regarding his availability, with a €3.5 (£3) million asking price set.

However, the Old Gold face competition from a number of clubs across Europe, including Championship side Charlton Athletic and German outfit Werder Bremen.

The Bundesliga side are already in talks to sign the Scot, who came through the Reading academy system.

But they are not the only German team interested in the 26-year-old, with Augsburg and Hamburg also keen on his signature.

Holsgrove has a contract with Estoril until June 2028, having joined the club in 2023 from Olympiacos on loan before signing a permanent deal in 2024.

The midfielder has made a total of 76 league appearances for the Portuguese side, contributing four goals and 13 assists.

Wolves have been encouraged by supporters to pursue a deal for Holsgrove for a deal worth £3 million, equating it to a tap-in.

Wolves fans have told the club to get the deal done, as they want to see new additions to the side before the market shuts.

And given the asking price, many believe that it’s a deal worth pursuing for Peixoto’s side.

However, some supporters are pessimistic about the move, even if he is a natural fit, as they are not confident in Wolves’ ability to complete a sensible signing.

Wolves will begin the new season on 14 August with a home clash against Blackburn Rovers.
