Wolves have opted to not include the Liquidator as part of their pre-match build-up at Molineux
Wolverhampton Wanderers have made the decision that the infamous Liquidator song will not be making a return to Molineux as part of the club's matchday plans for the 2026/27 season - one which has garnered a strong mix of opinions on social media as a result.
The Old Gold and Black will be hoping their first Championship campaign in eight seasons is one of celebrating an instant return to the Premier League under Cesar Peixoto.
However, they didn't exactly send supporters at Molineux home with much encouragement on the opening day of the season as Blackburn Rovers were moments away from leaving WV1 with all three points, before Raul Jimenez's 93rd-minute equaliser from the penalty spot.
Wanderers fans haven't exactly had much to cheer about in recent times, as their side only won three of their 18 home matches in last season's Premier League, and those fortunes must be addressed as soon as possible to make Molineux a fortress again.
That said, there was still a largely positive atmosphere at the stadium ahead of kick-off last Friday, where all 22,500 season-ticket seats have been snapped up.
However, the aforementioned decision, which also has links to Black Country rivals, West Bromwich Albion, hasn't gone down all too well.

Wolves' owners - FOSUN - haven't been viewed with the strongest of popularity in recent times, but it was put forward to president, Nathan Shi, in May, as to whether the Liquidator - produced in 1969 by Harry J Allstars - would return to Molineux after being banned in the early 2000s.
Shi 'promised' to look into the matter, but it has now been confirmed by the club that, after discussions with the Molineux Safety Advisory Group and further reviewings, it will not return as part of the pre-match matchday schedule.
"Having considered the history of the song, the views expressed by supporters and the club’s responsibilities around supporter behaviour, safety and governance, Wolves has decided that The Liquidator will not be reintroduced into the pre-match entertainment schedule at Molineux," a section of the statement read.
"The club recognises the significance of the song to sections of the Wolves support and its long association with the atmosphere at Molineux, however football, and the regulatory environment in which clubs operate, have changed considerably over the past two decades."

With the song also used pre-match by West Brom, during which Baggies supporters reference their disliking of Wolves, as well as Chelsea, Wolves' decision has brought about a strong mix of opinions.
"Atmosphere build up was electric last week with Metallica, Led Zeppelin, the fanfare into hi ho (silver lining) so i don't think we need the liquidator as such, only occasion I'd favour it would be Albion at home," said one supporter.
"But the albion can play it before the BCD (Black Country derby) ? Makes no sense," wrote one bemused Wolves fan.
Another fan believes that the owners have made the wrong decision, stating: "Absolutely pathetic decision. Easiest opportunity you'll ever get to win the fans over Nathan. Making Molineux raucous brings the best out of the team and always has done. Shocker."
However, one supporter was in clear disagreement with the masses, claiming: "I am sick & tired of this stupid song,WE DONT NEED THE LIQUIDATOR!! I('ve) be(en) going to Molineux since 1987,& the best atmosphere I witnessed was v Man utd in the cup, also the European nights under Nuno,& guess what people,no LIQUIDATOR was played then! In fact no one wanted it."
Unsurprisingly, there were some of an Albion persuasion rather enjoying the backlash, with one response reading: Fair play to Nathan for respecting our pre game song. He knows there's only one team worthy of using it round here."
Another Baggies fan added: "Such a shame. We will sing the Albion anthem loud and proud for you."

It comes as no real surprise that such a decision has split opinions amongst the Wolves fanbase, who want a strong atmosphere to return in a bid to help their team win promotion.
However, if Peixoto's side can do the majority of the talking on the pitch in the remaining 45 league matches, then Shi's decision not to see the Liquidator return is likely to be forgotten about.
That said, those of a West Brom persuasion may not forget about this any time soon, especially with the first Black Country derby at Molineux to be played in front of fans since a 5-1 away win for the visitors in 2012 coming as early as September 20th.
