Wolves Make Progress In Move For West Ham Target | OneFootball

Wolves are making progress on signing West Ham United target Jordan James from Rennes, according to journalist Alex Crook.

James rose through Birmingham City’s academy and quickly caught the eye with his performances, putting him on the radar of a number of clubs.

Atalanta made an attempt to sign him in the summer of 2024, but Rennes ultimately won the race for his signature after the Italian side failed to agree a deal with Blues.

The Welsh midfielder returned to English football last summer when Leicester City secured him on loan from Rennes after seeing off competition from Ipswich Town and Wrexham.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a impressive Championship campaign with the Foxes, making 34 appearances and contributing eleven goals and four assists.

Leicester’s relegation prevented them from retaining James, but his performances despite the Foxes’ struggles have seen him become a wanted man this summer.

James has been heavily linked with the team many expect to be Wolves’ rivals for promotion in the shape of West Ham.

West Ham lost Mateus Fernandes earlier this summer and recently sanctioned the exit of Freddie Potts, but it appears that James will not be coming in to plug the hole.

It is Wolves who are now advancing towards a deal to take James to Molineux for the new season.

Wolves lost Joao Gomes earlier this summer, while more players are expected to go before the window slams shut, and the Old Gold feel James fits the bill.

He will come into the team with Championship experience from the recent campaign, which could prove crucial.

The Molineux side are set to start their push for immediate promotion back to the Premier League under new manager Cesar Peixoto this Friday evening when Blackburn Rovers are the visitors.

James may not be in through the door in time for that game, while Wolves will want to be wary about any potential hijack attempts.

It remains to be seen when the Molineux side are able to secure the signature of James amid stiff transfer market competition.
