Wolves have sacked head coach Vítor Pereira just 45 days after he signed a new deal at Molineux, following a miserable start to the Premier League season.
The club sit bottom of the table with only two points from ten matches, and Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Fulham marked their third straight loss, leaving them eight points from safety.
Pereira signed a new three-year contract in September, despite Wolves losing their opening four games. He had been credited with saving the club from relegation last season after replacing Gary O’Neil in December, guiding them from 19th to 16th with 10 wins in 22 games.
However, this campaign has been disastrous. Fans turned on Pereira after the 3-2 home defeat to Burnley, where he was seen in a heated exchange with supporters.
A difficult summer also hit the team hard, with key departures including Matheus Cunha to Manchester United (£62.5m), Rayan Aït-Nouri to Manchester City (£31m), and Nélson Semedo to Fenerbahçe on a free transfer.
Wolves’ only points this season came from draws against Tottenham and Brighton, both ending with late equalisers. Pereira leaves the club back where he found them - in 19th place and in urgent need of a fresh start.
