Wolves’ pre-season camp in Portugal is under way, with day one dedicated to travel and arrival ahead of a packed week of coverage.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the trip began with a four am alarm, a dash to Birmingham airport and queues at the Jet2 bag drop and security that took 45 minutes before reaching departures.

After a quick Popeyes breakfast at six am, the flight to Faro, two hours and 50 minutes, passed with intermittent sleep, and on landing there was swift progress through passport control using an Irish passport, then a shuttle to the hire car.

Having usually been a passenger on previous tours, this was a first time driving abroad on the other side of the road. A free upgrade moved the vehicle from a Fiat Panda to an automatic Opel Corsa, which made the short drive to the apartment straightforward.

The base is a seaside town on the Algarve within driving distance of Wolves’ base. After stocking up on food, the evening was spent getting ahead on work.

The week will continue the series marking Fosun’s 10 years owning Wolves, plus on-the-ground insight into Cesar Peixoto’s training sessions. There will also be exclusive interviews, daily videos and this diary as the squad are put through their paces for a return to the Championship in the 2026/27 season.
