Wolves’ pre-season moved into day three in Portugal, where a lighter schedule still carried plenty of intensity under a cloudless sky.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Tuesday’s double sessions were followed by a gentler Wednesday opener of stretching and light jogging before competitive small-sided games.

The squad then worked through game-like attacking phases, using the wide players and creating overloads. There was less tactical instruction than on Tuesday, but the work stayed technical and focused.

The club hierarchy watched on, including chairman Nathan Shi, who has flown to Portugal to be around the squad and Cesar Peixoto.

Post-session, Toti Gomes sat down for a short interview covering training, his first impressions of Peixoto and the club’s new signings Kieran Trippier, Raul Jimenez and Rafiki Said.

Away from the pitch, the diarist caught Spain’s win over France in the World Cup semi-finals late on Tuesday, then prepared for the day ahead. After leaving the training ground, a few children asked if he was a player, before he returned to his apartment to review the day’s work and ready further interviews, later heading out to watch England against Argentina with understandable nerves and a consoling drink.
