According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves have sacked head coach Rob Edwards and are set to appoint Cesar Peixoto as his replacement.

Edwards was informed on Thursday morning. The decision came days after Wolves announced the arrivals of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez.

Peixoto currently manages Gil Vicente in Portugal. He is represented by Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency, which has close ties to Wolves owners Fosun.

Edwards was told over the phone while abroad on holiday. The 43-year-old had been working on summer recruitment and did not anticipate the move.

He played a central role in landing Trippier, who pointed to Edwards’ passion as a reason for joining. Peixoto, 46, would arrive having coached only in the Portuguese league system.
