Bastien Meupiyou was sold by Wolves to Alverca in the 2025 summer window
Wolves are back in the Championship after coming 20th in the Premier League table this season.
The Midlands outfit endured a difficult campaign in which they were rooted to the bottom of the standings all year.
Rob Edwards arrived as head coach in November, replacing Vitor Pereira, but he was unable to turn things around and lead a survival challenge.
The Old Gold earned just 20 points, ending an eight year stint in the division in which they reached high points such as consecutive seventh place results in 2019 and 2020.
Edwards will now be hoping for a positive summer ahead, with the club eyeing automatic promotion at the first attempt.
The transfer window will prove an important period, with this being the 43-year-old’s first proper chance to shape the squad to his liking.

It has been reported by Portuguese outlet O Jogo, that former Wolves player Bastien Meupiyou is attracting interest from German giants Borussia Dortmund.
It has previously been claimed that the Championship side have a 50 per cent sell-on clause as part of their deal to sell the defender 12 months ago.
And it’s now believed that Dortmund have made an offer worth €12 (£10.3) million, which could rise as high as €17 (£14.6) million depending on add-ons.
However, no deal has yet been agreed, with the Bundesliga outfit facing competition from other clubs in Europe.
Wolves stand to make between £5m-£7m if this agreement goes through, although it could rise further if a bidding war ensues.
The 20-year-old made the move to Alverca last summer, and made 30 appearances in the Portuguese top flight this season.
He’s impressed many with his performances, leading to speculation of a move after just one year.
The youngster didn’t feature in Wolves’ first team prior to his move away from Molineux in 2025, but he could still net the club a significant sum this summer.
The Old Gold signed the centre-back from Nantes in 2024 after he broke into the French side’s first team squad from their academy system.
The 20-year-old made one appearance in Ligue 1 in 2023/24 prior to his move to English football.
Wolves will be keeping a close eye on negotiations between Alverca and Dortmund, with Meupiyou’s future up in the air ahead of the transfer window officially opening on 15 June.

Meupiyou didn’t feature for Wolves, but he could now net the club a valuable sum going into an important summer.
While an additional £5 or 7 million won’t be the biggest fee ever received, it could make a difference now that they’re competing in the Championship.
Inserting the sell-on clause in this deal is a great piece of business, and will pay dividends almost immediately.
Some supporters may wonder why he wasn’t given a fairer chance in the Wolves side, and it’s possible he could’ve developed this well had he stayed, but the additional revenue will still be a nice bonus for the club.
