Wolves have signed Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Joao Virginia in a deal worth around £1.3 million, their second goalkeeper addition today.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 26-year-old former Everton goalkeeper arrives amid a reshuffle that also sees John Ruddy return to Molineux on a free this morning.

Ruddy, without a club since leaving Newcastle at the end of last season, will be third-choice, replacing Dan Bentley after his move to Coventry City last week.

As things stand, Josa Sa is expected to remain No.1 for the season, with Sam Johnstone likely to leave before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Although born and raised in Portugal, Virginia qualifies as homegrown after progressing through Arsenal’s academy before moving to Everton.

He made only eight appearances for the Toffees, had loan spells at Reading and Belgian club Cambuur, then joined Sporting on a free last summer.
