Wolves endured a bruising 2025, rescued from early trouble by Vitor Pereira then sent spiralling by a calamitous 2025/26 start, protests against Fosun and grim signs for 2026.
According to Molineux.news, one low point came in the 2025 summer window. Nelson Semedo and Pablo Sarabia departed after contracts expired, Matheus Cunha also left, and Rayan Ait-Nouri was sold to Manchester City. Further exits included Craig Dawson, Tommy Doyle and Boubacar Traore on loan, plus Goncalo Guedes, while recruitment lacked Premier League experience.
The opening run was a nightmare, with defeats to Manchester City, Bournemouth, Everton and Newcastle United before newly promoted Leeds arrived at Molineux. Wolves led through Ladislav Krejci but conceded three before the break and lost 3-1. It was Leeds’ first away win and left the Old Gold only the sixth team to start a Premier League season with five straight losses.
After defeats to promoted Sunderland and Burnley, where he confronted fans by the South Bank while asking for support, Pereira’s position crumbled. At Fulham in early November, he benched Joao Gomes and Andre, and started the rarely used Ki-Jana Hoever at right wing-back. Wolves produced their worst display, lost 3-0, Emmanuel Agbadou was sent off before half-time and Yerson Mosquera scored an own goal. He was sacked the next morning.
Choosing not to add Premier League-proven players was a glaring oversight and will likely cost Wolves their top-flight status. It capped a year many supporters were glad to see the back of.
