Wolves have issued a statement after a supporter was struck by falling metal at Molineux during Saturday’s Premier League 1-1 draw with Sunderland AFC.

The club said in a statement that a speaker fixing attached to the Sir Jack Hayward Stand roof came loose and hit a fan. The individual suffered minor injuries, received treatment from on-site medical staff and later returned home after treatment. The club said any inspections and repairs required would take place in the coming days.

As a precaution, stewards emptied the nearby section at half-time.

Around 200 fans were relocated, leaving an empty section in the stand for the rest of the match.

The incident was in the South Bank beneath public address equipment. No hospital treatment was needed.
