Wolves are preparing changes to their recruitment operation after Crystal Palace moved for two members of their scouting department.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, head of scouting Ben Wrigglesworth is set to join Palace as chief scout, reuniting with sporting director Matt Hobbs, a former Wolves colleague.
Wrigglesworth is highly regarded at Molineux and played a key role in deals for Joao Gomes, Andre and Matheus Cunha. He also flew to Brazil in 2023 to help persuade Gomes to choose Wolves.
He was part of the team that tried to sign David Brooks and Harry Wilson last year, but head coach Vitor Pereira and head of professional football Domenico Teti overruled those moves, with Teti driving much of last summer’s strategy.
Elliott Sutcliffe, Wrigglesworth’s assistant at Wolves, is also due to follow him to Palace. It is understood both switches were wrapped up before Wolves dismissed head coach Rob Edwards and installed Gestifute client Cesar Peixoto.
Technical director Matt Jackson will oversee changes to the department, with replacements anticipated. The club’s transfer planning is expected to involve the recruitment team, head coach, chairman and technical director, and agent Jorge Mendes is likely to have a role.
