Third draw in championship group after stoppage-time leveller

SK Sturm Graz 2-2 FC Red Bull Salzburg Women (H/T:0-0). Goals: Kustrin (68', 77') - Krassnig (48'), Lutz (90+5')

The golden touch of Dusan Pavlovic, who was awarded Best Coach of the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga season today, was instrumental in not only ending our league goal drought but also securing a point at Sturm Graz for our women's team to finish the campaign with. While substitute Katja Wienerroither initiated the opening goal, Valentina Lutz was responsible for the last-minute equaliser.

Awards & match summary

Dusan Pavlovic was honoured as Coach of the Season before the match! Our coach not only led his team to the championship group, but also sensationally to the Austrian Women's Cup final. Furthermore, Michaela Fischer finished third in the Goalkeeper of the Season voting. All captains, coaches, and sporting directors of the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga were eligible to vote. We warmly congratulate both of them on these awards!

We then got going, with the hosts having a bright start – but goalkeeper Lara Ritter was also up to speed early on: first after a long run by Wirnsberger, then against Keutz, and in both cases she tipped the ball over the crossbar. As the first half progressed, our team grew into the game. Julia Grünwald was responsible for our first attempt, followed by Tina Krassnig – after a high ball recovery – and Emelie Kobler, who - at the end of a well-executed passing move - came closest to scoring the opening goal. The lack of a finishing touch meant the teams went into the break goalless.

That was rectified shortly after the restart! Katja Wienerroither broke through on the left wing, her cross was volleyed home by Tina Krassnig – and we went 1-0 up, ending our two-month league goal drought (48')! The second half was significantly more eventful than the first, with a Sturm substitute also making a decisive impact alongside Wienerroither: Kustrin got on the ball during a series of Sturm chances, beating Ritter from a tight angle (68'), and then again a few minutes later with a lob (77').

Suddenly, we were therefore chasing a game. A final burst of energy, comparable to the first away game against Sturm Graz, finally gave us our reward. After Vina Crnoja, Christina Gierzinger and Sara Grabovac had their celebrations cut short, Valentina Lutz finally broke the deadlock, firing home on the rebound through the legs of Sturm goalkeeper Richter to put a fitting end to this memorable season (90+5').

We played a really good match and thoroughly deserved this point - perhaps even more would have been possible. On the ball, we played our best game in the championship group – I'm extremely pleased about that, this is exactly how we'd want to end the season. The girls were able to show once again that they're here and can compete on equal terms with the best teams in Austria!
