Leeds United Women strengthened their excellent FA WNL Division One North form so far with a statement 4-2 victory over Stockport County Women.

Braces from Chloe Dixon and Amy Woodruff, two of which coming in a hectic five minutes containing four total goals, secured all three points at the BD Community Stadium.

Simon Wood’s starting XI confirmed two changes from the dominant 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town Women the preceding weekend.

Molly Mears made her return between the sticks, and Monique Watson made her first start since October 2025 after returning from injury.

The Whites almost got off to a dream start a minute in, Drew Greene tapping into an empty net following a corner but being adjudged to have strayed offside.

Stockport were next to threaten as they sought an early pacesetter, driving forward Madison Robinson who struck straight at a grateful Mears, holding easily.

Dixon responded to the visitors’ pressure, stepping up to a free kick 30 yards out and shooting, only narrowly clearing the upright with her ambitious effort.

As Leeds looked to up the ante, Woodruff was found by Drew Greene inside the area. The number 14 took aim, her low strike only just evading the far corner of Abbie Smith’s goal.

Stockport thought they had taken the lead at the half an hour mark, a deep free kick destined for the back of the net if not for Shauna Legge, who hooked clear.

With five minutes remaining, the Whites found the breakthrough via Dixon!

Watson picked up the ball outside the area and played a perfectly weighted ball through to the winger, who made no mistake in firing into the back of the net to open the scoring!

And that was all for first half action, Matthew Coles signalling the interval shortly after.

HALF TIME: Leeds United Women 1-0 Stockport County Women

Nine minutes after the restart, the Whites were able to double their lead!

Dixon again was the scorer, again cutting in from the left, but this time profiting on a fortunate bounce inside the area and firing into the back of the net!

Alice Hughes almost made it three instantly, as Dixon turned provider and delivered a deep corner, but the midfielder’s header cleared the crossbar.

Darcie Greene then wanted in on the action, driving down the left flank and curring onto her right foot where she took aim for the top corner, but only finding Smith who caught easily.

Despite this pressure from Leeds, Stockport halved the deficit on 68 minutes with captain Ellie Fletcher prodding home in the goalmouth.

Woodruff had other ideas than to let the visitors back into the game, as almost instantly, she scored two to extend the cushion.

For her first, the centre-forward latched onto a loose ball as Stockport looked to play out from the back before curling satisfyingly into the top corner!

Effectively from the resulting kick off, our number 14 secured a brace as she was played in-behind down the right wing and fired powerfully at the near post, beating the ‘keeper and making it four in style!

However, the exciting second half action continued, this time in Stockport’s favour, as Emily Bradshaw beat the offside trap and scored to again reduce Leeds’ advantage.

With only 10 to play, the clash did stall as Leeds sought to repair their defensive resilience they have come to know this campaign.

And with that, the referee blew his whistle to confirm all three points remaining in West Yorkshire after an action-packed final 20 minutes!
