After a slow start, Bayern had the first chance of the game through Franziska Kett. The right-back was not able to defend Sakina Karchaoui when PSG’s captain scored the opening goal of the match in the 16th minute, however.

The visitors responded well with the equalizer coming barely two minutes after PSG’s goal. Linda Dallmann profited from Mbock Bathy’s poor clearance as the midfielder netted her fourth goal in the last five games.

Bayern’s dominance grew after the goal, with Georgia Stanway and Dallmann trying to test Mary Earps with long-range efforts before Arianna Caruso fluffed her shot from a promising position.

Unlike last week’s late response against the defending champions, the Frauen-Bundesliga leaders turned the tables before the half-time break. Klara Bühl registered her 20th direct goal involvement with another assist to her name, but this one should be all about the scorer for a change.

Momoko Tanikawa netted her first Champions League goal as she showcased a world-class skill to go past three defenders before her powerful shot ended up in the net. Debutant Vitória Yaya’s slight deflection made it even more difficult for Earps. The 20-year-old Japanese midfielder is performing beyond expectations in her first full season with Bayern.

The hosts had a strong finish to the half, but their best chance fell to the center-back Mbock. Bayern came off strongly after the restart with Bühl’s deflected effort coming close to extending their advantage.

Bühl continued to ask questions in the final third, but the hosts dominated proceedings for most of the second-half. Yaya attempted a dream backflip in her first Champions League appearance before Ena Mahmutovic’s smart save from Élisa De Almeida’s header.

Pernille Harder was at the heart of last week’s win over Arsenal, and, against the run of play, she was only denied by the crossbar from sealing the win with another fantastic strike.

Suddenly, Bayern created another big chance when Jovana Damnjanović was released one-on-one with Earps, but the substitute was unable to react fast. PSG showed they still stand a chance when Merveille Kanjinga hit the sidenetting from an acute angle.

Bayern secured the points when Damnjanović scored the third in the 89th minute. Kett and Bühl combined well to put the ball in the danger zone, and the Serbian striker provided the finishing touch after Mbock’s deflection from Alara Şehitler’s header.

Both Frauen-Bundesliga representatives are in the automatic qualification spots for the quarter-finals with nine points each from four matches. The League phase will be completed after a couple of matchdays.

Bayern’s next Champions League game will be in Madrid against Liga F’s second-placed side Atlético Madrid. Before then, they will face a couple of tricky Bundesliga fixtures against TSG Hoffenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt.
