Nicolo Savona will have a knee issue assessed today, with Sean Dyche unsure how long the defender could be out. The full-back is unlikely to feature against Ferencvaros at the City Ground on Thursday, eight pm kick-off.

According to Nottingham Post, Dyche said Savona will see a specialist today for a secondary check and the problem does not appear serious, but the club hopes for clarity within 24 hours. He added the timescale could be days or weeks.

Savona was an unused substitute in Sunday’s 2-0 win at Brentford and did not train with the group on Wednesday morning ahead of the midweek tie.

Goalkeeper John Victor is expected to miss the rest of the season after surgery on the knee injury he suffered against Aston Villa earlier this month. Dyche described it as unfortunate and said he will be out for a while.

Chris Wood had knee surgery at the end of last year and has not played since October. Dyche called his recovery steady, week by week, with the repair progressing in the right direction.

Igor Jesus has led the line during Wood’s absence, with Lorenzo Lucca joining on loan from Napoli last week to provide competition. Forest want to add another forward before the window closes next Monday, a move Dyche said is not linked to Wood’s injury.
