Liverpool can pick up a world-class transfer target for the 'bargain' price of €50m. A must.
Liverpool will focus at centre-back in the upcoming transfer window as they attempt to rebound from this disappointing season. That and there's a clear need to change things.
Ibrahima Konate's contract will expire at the end of the season and discussions appear to have slowed dramatically. Joe Gomez's future isn't clear, either, as he enters the final year of his contract - he was nearly moved on in 2025, in fact.
Virgil van Dijk will also walk into the final year. That's a massive one, of course, as Liverpool will need to think about replacing their captain and the man who has held their defence together for nearly a decade.
That will take a major signing and we can't imagine the club plan for it to be 20-year-old Jeremy Jacquet. Nor 19-year-old Giovanni Leoni, for that matter.
But there is a target who could fill the void and lead this defence forward as the senior man. He's far cheaper than expected, too.
Bild reports that expectations continue to grow around Nico Schlotterbeck's departure from Borussia Dortmund. The centre-back enters the final year of his contract this summer and looks very unlikely to sign a new deal.
Instead, certain teams are flocking to snap him up in the transfer window. Real Madrid may lead the race, says Bild, with Schlotterbeck fancying the move.
But Liverpool have been linked with a move for Schlotterbeck over the course of the season. We've talked him up as an ideal signing, too.
