Algeria will compete in group J during the 2026 FIFA World Cup scheduled from June 11 to July 19, 2026, in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Fennecs will face Argentina, Austria, and Jordan in this group. Qualification is well within reach for Riyad Mahrez and his teammates.

Historically, the Greens have crossed paths with La Albiceleste just once, in a friendly back in 2007—a thrilling 3-4 defeat highlighted by a Lionel Messi brace.

Against Austria, the Algerians will be hungry for revenge after their 0-2 loss at the 1982 World Cup.

It’s also worth noting that Algeria have only met Jordan once, in a friendly in May 2004, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
