FIFA has imposed fines on six national football associations, including reigning champions Argentina, in response to racist incidents involving supporters during the June qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The sanctioned countries are: Albania, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Albania received the heaviest penalty: 161,500 Swiss francs (≈200,000 USD) for several violations during their home game against Serbia on June 7, including 'inappropriate' messages and the interruption of the national anthem. The Albanian federation will also be required to reduce stadium capacity by 20% for an upcoming match.

Argentina was fined 120,000 Swiss francs (≈149,000 USD) for racist abuse during their 1-1 draw against Colombia in Buenos Aires. Midfielder Enzo Fernandez was sent off for a dangerous tackle and will serve a two-match suspension in addition to paying a 5,000 Swiss franc fine.
