Gabon and Côte d’Ivoire played out a goalless draw (0-0) on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Franceville. This result allows the Elephants to retain the top spot in Group F, holding a one-point lead over their rivals.
Gabon hosted Côte d’Ivoire in a decisive clash for qualification to the 2026 World Cup. Both teams battled in an intense contest, marked by a crowded midfield and disciplined defending on both sides. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang started up front but couldn't find the breakthrough.
The first half ended goalless despite some probing runs from Gabon and an Ivorian attempt by Franck Kessié, which was kept out by the goalkeeper. The tempo increased after the break, but defenses stayed resolute. Neither Sébastien Haller nor Denis Bouanga could beat the keepers, and no shot on target found the net.
This draw keeps Côte d’Ivoire on top of Group F with 20 points, just ahead of Gabon on 19. Both teams remain well-placed for qualification, but they will need to seal the deal in the final two matchdays scheduled for October.
