The 2026 World Cup is just around the corner and, from FC Bayern’s point of view, the focus will increasingly be on North America in the coming days. The German record champions will once again be sending numerous international players to the tournament. From Munich’s point of view, it is not just about sporting success, but above all about the health of its own professionals
After a long and intensive season, those responsible at Säbener Straße are hoping above all that all players return injury-free. The past few years have shown how quickly major tournaments can become an additional burden. Bayern will therefore be following the performances of its national team players very closely
Min-jae Kim will kick things off from Bayern’s point of view when the central defender takes on the Czech Republic with South Korea at 4 a.m. on June 12
Alphonso Davies will also start the tournament with Canada on the same day, when the hosts face Bosnia-Herzegovina at 9 p.m. Following his injury, however, the left-back is not expected to be ready for action until later in the tournament
The German national team is naturally attracting a lot of attention, with Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Jonathan Tah, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Leon Goretzka, Lennart Karl and Jamal Musiala starting their World Cup adventure on June 14 at 7pm
Curaçao await national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team in the opener
Immediately afterwards, Hiroki Ito and Japan will face the Netherlands on June 14 at 10 pm
Bayern duel between France and Senegal The clash between France and Senegal on June 16 at 9 p.m. will be particularly interesting from Munich’s point of view
Two Bayern players, Dayot Upamecano and Michael Olise, are in the French squad, while Bara Sapoko Ndiaye and Nicolas Jackson, two players with Bayern connections, could feature for Senegal
Konrad Laimer opens the next World Cup day on June 17 at 6 a.m. with Austria against Jordan
One of the most exciting direct Bayern duels of the group stage follows in the evening, with Harry Kane and England facing Croatia and Josip Stanisic at 10pm
Luis Díaz will conclude the first round of the World Cup from Bayern’s point of view, with the Colombian starting the tournament against Uzbekistan on June 18 at 4 pm
While the fans of the record champions will be keeping their fingers crossed for their national team players, those responsible in Munich will also be watching every game with a certain amount of concern
After the numerous injury worries of recent months, FC Bayern will be prioritizing one thing above all else in addition to their sporting performance: that all the professionals return healthy from the World Cup and that Vincent Kompany can start the preparations for the 2026/27 season with as full a squad as possible.
