World Cup champion Pedro Porro is being linked with FC Bayern | OneFootball

FC Bayern has been linked to numerous right-backs for years. Now, former Bayern pro Valérien Ismaël has thrown a new name into the mix—and is raving about World Cup champion Pedro Porro.

The search for a long-term solution at right back has been on FC Bayern’s mind for several years. Although Konrad Laimer established himself in the position last season and has since extended his contract through 2029, the record champions are still regularly linked to other players for the right-back spot.

According to former Bayern defender Valérien Ismaël, Pedro Porro could be a top-tier player who would be a good fit for Munich. The 26-year-old Spaniard is one of Tottenham Hotspur’s key players and won the World Cup with Spain this past summer.

Ismaël raves about Porro

In an interview with Sport BILD, Ismaël made a clear recommendation: “Spain’s Pedro Porro has shown that he’s an incredible defender. He would truly be a superb addition for FC Bayern. Fullbacks at this highest level are always hard to find. Porro is strong in defensive duels and tenacious, fast, and always capable of a dangerous offensive move. He simply has it all. I can definitely see him fitting in great with Vincent Kompany’s team—he’d be in really good hands there.”

In fact, Porro has a profile that could be a good fit for FC Bayern’s style of play. The right back is considered an extremely strong runner, regularly gets involved in the attack, and at the same time impresses with high intensity in counter-pressing. His current market value is around 45 million euros, and he’s under contract with Tottenham through 2031.

However, the question arises as to whether there is any need for action in this position at all right now. With Konrad Laimer, Vincent Kompany has a reliable option, and Josip Stanisic can also play on the right side of defense. At the same time, Bayern continues to work on selling players like Sacha Boey before any further transfers become a realistic possibility.

A Porro transfer is therefore likely to remain a distant prospect for now. Ismaël is nevertheless convinced that the Spanish international would be a perfect fit for the record champions from a sporting perspective—and would be a real asset in Kompany’s system.
