Croatia beat Ghana for a second place finish in Group L as three Bundesliga players featured. FC Bayern's Josip Stanisic and Freiburg's Igor Matanovic played for Croatia, while Jonas Adjetey from Wolfsburg was substituted off at half-time by Carlos Queiroz.

Croatia took the lead with Petar Sucic's long-range effort before both teams scored from set-piece opportunities in the last 20 minutes. 40-year-old Luka Modrić assisted the winner for Nikola Vlasic with a corner-kick delivery.

England topped the group after two second-half goals against Panama, who exited the tournament as the only side not to find the net. Ghana will now face the winners of Group K (either Colombia or Portugal) after qualifying as one of the best third-placed teams. Croatia set to face the team finishing second from the same group.

The result also confirmed Scotland's elimination from the World Cup as they will not be in the top eight of the third-placed ranking.
