Erling Haaland is ‘a machine, a beast and a fantastic player’.
That’s according to England talisman Harry Kane with the striking superstars set to face off tonight in a thrilling World Cup quarter-final.
Haaland will lead the line for Norway with Kane set to skipper England in the 22:00 (UK) knockout clash at Miami Stadium.
It’s a battle between two of the world’s most prodigious frontmen with not only progress to the last four up for grabs but also the competition’s Golden Boot in the balance with Kane on six and Haaland on seven behind only Argentina’s Lionel Messi and France’s Kylian Mbappe on eight in the fight for the prestigious individual gong.
Heading into this evening’s hotly-anticipated encounter, Kane waxed lyrical about his opposite number.
“Erling has been incredible,” said Kane.
“Look at his goal scoring record. And physically, he’s a machine, he’s a beast.
“His finishing is at another level and his goalscoring record speaks for itself.
“I respect him a lot as a player and as a fellow professional.
“I’m obviously hoping he has a quiet day. His performances speak for themselves. He’s a fantastic player.”
The performances of both prolific forwards have led to comparisons and naturally questions of which player is better.
It’s a discussion Kane refused to get drawn into primarily because he believes they’re different type of strikers.
“It’s an impossible one for me to answer’” he added.
“I think we are completely different players. I know we are both seen as strikers but we are almost two different positions if I’m totally honest.”
