Lionel Messi responded with remarkable clarity to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent comments, in which the Portuguese star claimed that "winning the World Cup isn’t that difficult." For the Argentine icon, reality tells a very different story. In an interview this weekend, Messi emphasized just how fragile this tournament is, where every tiny detail can decide a team’s fate.

"Winning the World Cup is very difficult… Any team can make things tough for you and knock you out. The ball might hit the post and go out, or hit the post and go in, and just like that, your journey ends. Or you can lose on penalties,"

Messi explained, highlighting the unforgiving nature of the format.

He also admitted that Argentina enjoyed their share of fortune in Qatar, even though, in his view, they "played the best football" during the knockout rounds. It’s his way of underlining that talent alone is never enough to conquer the most elusive trophy in world football.
