According to Coluna Do Fla, Conmebol has appointed World Cup referee Gustavo Tejera to oversee Flamengo v Cruzeiro in the Libertadores round of 16 second leg at the Maracanã on Wednesday, 19.
He will be assisted by Nicolas Taran and Horacio Ferreiro, with José Burgos as fourth official, all Uruguayan. VAR will be handled by Andres Cunha, also from Uruguay.
Tejera took charge of two matches at the 2026 World Cup, Mexico’s 1-0 group-stage win over South Korea and Egypt’s round of 32 shootout victory against Australia, 4-2 on penalties.
He previously refereed Flamengo’s 2-1 win over Racing (ARG) in the 2023 Libertadores group phase and the 2026 Recopa Sudamericana second leg, when Lanús (ARG) won 3-2 at the Maracanã.
The first leg at the Mineirão finished 1-1. Cruzeiro went ahead eight minutes into the second half through Arroyo, before Lucas Paquetá levelled on 22 minutes after Léo Ortiz had headed against the bar.
Kick-off is 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã, with the tie finely poised.
Before that, Flamengo visit Mirassol in the Brasileirão on Sunday, 16, at 18:30 at the Maião in round 23.
