Seven Inter players are representing their countries at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament, being held across the United States, Mexico and Canada, got underway on 11 June and will conclude on 19 July. The Nerazzurri players involved are: Lautaro Martínez (Argentina), Ange-Yoan Bonny (Côte d'Ivoire), Petar Sucic (Croatia), Marcus Thuram (France), Manuel Akanji (Switzerland), Hakan Calhanoglu (Türkiye) and Denzel Dumfries (Netherlands).

After a perfect group stage for Argentina, who finished Group J top of the table with nine points, and a victory over Cape Verde in the Round of 32, Argentina knocked out Egypt in the Round of 16 following a thrilling 3-2 comeback win, despite being two goals behind in the final eleven minutes. The Nerazzurri captain has featured in all five of Argentina's matches, playing a total of 267 minutes. Lautaro Martinez scored against Jordan and provided the crucial assist for Enzo Fernandez's winning goal against Egypt. After their 3-2 victory in the Round of 16, Argentina took on Switzerland in the quarter-finals and won 3-1 after extra time. Up next, the Albiceleste take on England in the semis at the Atlanta Stadium on at 21:00 CEST on Wednesday, 15 July.

Côte d'Ivoire's run comes to an end in the Round of 32 after an unforgettable group stage as they secured the nation's first-ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup knockout stage. The Elephants finished second in Group E with six points. However, they were knocked out by Norway, with Erling Haaland scoring the decisive goal in the 85th minute. Bonny featured in all four matches, playing a total of 236 minutes.

Petar Sucic's World Cup campaign with Croatia ended in the Round of 32 with a 2-1 defeat to Portugal: a thrilling and action-packed match, ultimately decided by a 94th-minute header from Gonçalo Ramos. The Nerazzurri midfielder appeared in all four matches, playing a total of 288 minutes. In the group stage, Petar provided an assist in the defeat to England and scored his first World Cup goal in the win over Ghana.

After dominating Group I, finishing in first place with three wins and a remarkable ten goals, France continued their march forward with a resounding 3-0 victory over Sweden in the Round of 32. In the Round of 16, Les Bleus played and won a hard-fought match against Paraguay, who had previously knocked out Germany. In the quarter-finals against Morocco, Les Bleus dominated the game winning 2-0 thanks to Mbappé's eighth goal of the tournament and a goal from Dembelé. Marcus Thuram, who has been managing a minor injury, featured during the group stage in France's match against Iraq. Les Bleus will now face Spain in the semi-finals on Tuesday 14 July at 21:00 CEST in Dallas.

Switzerland's 2026 World Cup journey came to an end in the quarter-finals as they suffered a 3-1 extra-time defeat to Argentina. It brings the curtain down on a highly positive tournament for the Swiss, who reached the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 1954. Switzerland had booked their place in the last eight with a penalty shootout victory over Colombia, having previously beaten Algeria 2-0 in the Round of 32 and topped their group with seven points. After drawing their opening match against Qatar, the Swiss went on to record two wins: 4-1 against Bosnia and 2-1 against Canada. Manuel Akanji was ever-present, playing four full 90-minute matches as well as 120 minutes against both Colombia and Argentina.

Australia 2-0 Türkiye Türkiye 0-1 Paraguay Türkiye 3-2 United States Türkiye and Calhanoglu bowed out of the World Cup after suffering two defeats in their opening two matches. Vincenzo Montella's side were left to rue missed chances in both games, with Hakan Calhanoglu starting each match and playing the full 90 minutes on both occasions. The 2-0 defeat to Australia was followed by a 1-0 loss to Paraguay, for whom Matias Galarza scored the winner in the second minute. Their victory over the USMNT came too late to make a difference.

After finishing first in their group (following a draw with Japan and victories over Sweden and Tunisia), the Netherlands were eliminated in the Round of 32 by Morocco on penalties. Denzel Dumfries played every minute of the World Cup: all 90 minutes in the three group matches and 120 minutes in the match against Morocco.
