A head-turning statistic, highlighting the woes of Real Madrid summer signing Kylian Mbappé over the early weeks of the season, has come to the fore online.

This, of course, comes fresh off another disappointing night’s work for Mbappé and Real Madrid alike.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops made the trip to Gran Canaria on Thursday, for a La Liga meeting with Las Palmas.

When all was said and done, however, Los Blancos were forced to make do with a share of the spoils, owing to a 1-1 stalemate.

As much means that the reigning champions have already fallen a full four points behind arch rivals Barcelona atop the La Liga standings.

And such woes on Real’s part have directly coincided with an increasingly concerning slump on the part of their marquee summer signing.

Since finding the net in his new club’s Super Cup downing of Atalanta, Kylian Mbappé has failed to follow up with a goal in any of Los Merengues’ first three La Liga fixtures.

And, in the process, the France international has secured for himself an altogether unwanted benchmark.

As revealed by statisticians Opta:

‘Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé is the player in the Top 5 European Leagues who has made the most shots this season (17) and who has the worst difference between Expected Goals (1.8 xG) and goals scored (none).’
