Striker Eoin Doyle has left Bolton Wanderers to join St Patrick’s Athletic in his native Ireland, the League One club have confirmed.

Doyle joined Bolton from Swindon Town last summer, and scored 19 goals to help fire the club to promotion from League Two at the first time of asking during his debut campaign with the Trotters.

However, the striker struggled to maintain that form in League One this season, scoring just five goals in 21 third-tier matches.

As a result, Doyle has now headed for pastures new, with Bolton swooping to sign another forward in the form of Dion Charles from Accrington Stanley earlier this month.

Having secured his departure from Bolton, Doyle has returned to hometown club St Patrick’s Athletic on a long-term deal, after 18 months with the Trotters.
