The Danish youth international completed his high-profile transfer to Blues on Tuesday
Birmingham City boss Chris Davies has stated why the signing of August Priske from Djurgardens IF will bring something unique to his attacking department at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park.
The highly-rated 21-year-old became Blues' fourth signing of the current winter transfer window on Tuesday afternoon, just hours before Davies' men recorded their first success away from the West Midlands since October 21st with a much-needed victory against the Championship's crisis club, Sheffield Wednesday, at Hillsborough.
Whilst Priske took in the action from the stands alongside fellow new recruit in the form of Brighton and Hove Albion loanee, Ibrahim Osman, two of the 40-year-old's other striking options ironically sealed the victory for Birmingham after a largely frustrating evening in South Yorkshire.
Indeed, Marvin Ducksch opened the scoring with a simple finish seven minutes from time with his seventh goal for the club since signing from Werder Bremen in August, before £10m buy, Kyogo Furuhashi, finally netted his first Championship strike for Blues.
The victory has seen Blues narrow the gap between themselves and the play-off places to just five points ahead of the three remaining fixtures on Wednesday night.
Priske will now be in contention to make his bow for the West Midlands side in their upcoming clash with Stoke City at St. Andrew's on Saturday afternoon, and Davies has outlined what Bluenoses could come to expect from the man who became the subject of an initial €7m (£6m) transfer outlay.

The Danish youth international's acquisition came after Blues were able to fend off strong competition from the likes of Besiktas and LOSC Lille of the Turkish Süper Lig and Ligue 1.
Back in October, Djurgardens' sporting director, Bosse Andersson claimed that Priske would be sold for a fee which trumped the overall €20m which the Allsvenskan side reportedly received in the sale of Lucas Bergvall to Tottenham Hotspur two seasons ago, during a period in which Davies was assistant to Ange Postecoglou in North London.
After signing for Djurgardens for a reported sum of just €300,000 in the summer of 2024 from FC Midtjylland, Priske immediately became the most potent striker in the Swedish top flight.
In his only full season at the 3Arena, the striker was given the name 'Jesus Priskus' by supporters after scoring 18 times in just 27 league appearances, as well as helping his former employers reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Conference League, before they were knocked out by eventual champions and future Club World Cup winners, Chelsea.
Given Priske's current ability and future potential, which has been echoed by the fact he has signed a five-and-a-half year contract with Blues until the summer of 2031, many Bluenoses are hoping they have sourced a long-term bargain, whilst Davies has somewhat echoed those thoughts.
“He’s a real talent,” said Davies via Birmingham Live . “He’s one for now, but he’s also one for the future. I think he’s a really good signing for us.
“He’s a good size, 6ft 3in, he can take the ball in, he gives you the option to go over a press because he can take the ball in and hold it up. He can win headers, and he’ll be a threat on set pieces. He’s got a good touch.
“In Europe, for a young striker of that profile – and there’s not too many around – I was really intrigued when I watched him play. I thought, wow, he looks like a really good player, and I’m really excited that we’ve got him to the club," the Blues boss explained further.

As Davies alluded to, Priske is a player with several attributes that could make a difference for Blues in what remains of their season.
With strikers of a similar ilk extremely hard to come by, there is every chance that the Dane becomes a bargain if he gets off to a strong start in royal blue, and he will also be eager to make his mark after a maiden switch to England, which follows in the footsteps of his father, Brian, once of Portsmouth.
The aforementioned collection of attributes could also bring the best out of those around him in attacking areas, which is an exciting prospect in itself given the capabilities of the likes of Ducksch, Jay Stansfield, Demarai Gray and Patrick Roberts.
