David Storch reflects on the opening stages of the League One campaign for Sheffield Wednesday

David Storch expressed his pride over what has been a successful start to life back in League One for Sheffield Wednesday under the Arise ownership.

Wednesday marks four months since the Arise takeover was completed, and it's been an incredibly busy time following that, from the eradication of the imposed 15-point deduction to numerous additions on the field and improvements off it.

The Owls sit on six points from nine to open the new campaign, a nice change from the negative tallies fans became acclimatised to last season, and the mood is definitely high following a rampant 7-2 victory over Bromley on Saturday.

And as the transfer window comes to an end, so does David Storch's visit to England for the opening stages of the season, and the new Sheffield Wednesday owner has reflected positively on his time with the club across August.

David Storch is one of the more vocal owners online in the EFL, one of the much-appreciated differences amongst Sheffield Wednesday fans between himself and former owner Dejphon Chansiri.

Taking to X, he reflected on the couple of weeks he's spent in London for the opening-day win against Leyton Orient and then in Sheffield, which he calls "our new adopted home."

"Back in Chicago after 15-16 days in London first to open the new campaign with a WIN v Leyton Orient then on to our new adopted home Sheffield!" he wrote.

"And how about the lads on Saturday… Wow!!! Put a huge exclamation point or 7 on our first 4 months owning our storied @swfc!!!!!!! And now we sit today on +6!!!!!!"

It's been a rather stressful few months organising everything behind the scenes to get prepared for the action on the field to resume. There have been new faces in the executive team and much-needed upgrades to the way the club operates, too.

Storch expressed his gratitude to everyone who has helped the club tick over the past four months, and is proud to see that reflected in what has been an overly positive atmosphere at Hillsborough in the infancy of the campaign.

"So proud of everyone connected with the club, our new executive team, folks in the front office + our fabulous match day team working so hard to make your experience that much more safe and enjoyable," he continued.

"And of course Henrik and the young men pouring their hearts and souls onto the pitch representing all of us with such grace, grit and determination. And I feel so blessed here today reflecting on it all. Big game tomorrow, later today for you all! Up the Owls!"

The main focus off the field this summer has been ensuring that Wednesday head coach Henrik Pedersen has the tools available to really hit the ground running back in the third tier.

David Storch has admitted he wants to see the Hillsborough-based side back in the Championship by the end of next season, and if the opening month of this year is anything to go by, that may be achieved a year early.

16 new faces have come through the doors at Sheffield Wednesday this summer, mainly to help rebuild a gutted senior squad from the ashes of the Chansiri reign, but amongst that have been numerous quality additions who will help the Owls push for promotion.

Jaden Heskey is closing in on a second loan spell with the club ahead of the transfer window closing, and the Sheffield Star reports that will likely be the 17th and final addition - with the Man City starlet's impending return to the Steel City first revealed exclusively by Football League World. A quiet deadline day, but it's a testament to how quickly the new higher-ups at Hillsborough have got their deals done during the summer.

There's been a lot to like about Wednesday so far this season. Even in their sole league defeat against Bradford City, the number of chances they created in the first half could have seen them out of sight before the Bantams nullified their threats after the break.

To see that all click against Bromley, scoring seven unanswered, would have been incredibly encouraging, and all eyes will be on whether they can replicate a similar performance at Wycombe Wanderers later this evening.

With no real questions surrounding any late recruits outside a returning Heskey, it's allowed Wednesday fans to recognise who'll be the main core of players between now and January.
