Wrexham are reportedly interested in Cardiff City duo Isaak Davies and Ollie Tanner

Championship newcomers Wrexham are eyeing a double-raid for Cardiff City duo Isaak Davies and Ollie Tanner following the exchange in divisions between the two Welsh clubs, which saw the Bluebirds relegated to League One for the first time in more than 20 years.

That's according to a recent report from Wrexham Insider, which has revealed Phil Parkinson's interest in Davies and Tanner as the Red Dragons bid to supplement additional Championship experience at the Stok Cae Ras.

Wrexham gained promotion from League One as runners-up behind fellow big-spenders Birmingham City, and the upwardly-mobile pair have both been tipped by reports to rival recently-relegated Championship clubs - namely Ipswich Town, Southampton and Leicester City - alongside certain top-flight outfits for signings in the coming months as an exciting summer transfer window awaits.

For the time being, however, it would appear as though the Red Dragons are identifying more cost-effective deals for players with nous and familiarity with the second-tier.

Wrexham, alongside Birmingham, have been linked with Swansea City's Harry Darling, who is soon to be out of contract, while they are also reportedly interested in Cardiff forward Callum Robinson after he finished as the Bluebirds' top scorer with 12 league goals.

Robinson, though, is said to not be at the top of Wrexham's list, and they are instead eyeing two other deals with the freshly-relegated League One side.

The aforementioned report has cited an exclusively-provided update from reporter Graeme Bailey, who has revealed that Wrexham are keeping tabs on the attacking duo.

According to Bailey, the Red Dragons are aware of Davies and both players are on the club's radar ahead of a potential double-swoop this summer.

23-year-old forward Davies managed two goals from nine Championship appearances, although much of his campaign was curtailed by a serious hamstring injury sustained in pre-season, having been tipped to lead the line for Cardiff following a 12-goal haul on loan with Belgian side Kortrijk in 23/24.

The pacey striker, who has been capped at every youth level for Wales, has scored six goals from 52 matches with the Bluebirds overall, and will be backed to have a leading impact in League One next year if he remains.

Cardiff have plenty of faith in Davies despite his unfortunate injury record, exercising the one-year extension option in the Bluebirds academy product's contract back in March.

Tanner, meanwhile, has enjoyed a more central role in Cardiff's first-team over the last two seasons, making a combined 71 appearances. The tricky winger, also aged 23, recorded two goals and two assists apiece in Cardiff's relegation campaign, although he spent more than two months on the sidelines and struggled to get going in the back-end of the season.

Much like Davies, the dynamic wide-man will be expected to star in the third-tier and Cardiff may be under no pressure to sell as he is under contract until 2027.

Cardiff City's Ollie Tanner may not fit Phil Parkinson's Wrexham AFC side

Davies would be an addition to what is already a rather substantial striking stable, but Wrexham would benefit from upgrading on the likes of Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher. Tanner, however, could prove an awkward fit in Parkinson's 3-5-1-1 formation.

He is an out-and-out winger, capable of playing on either flank, and while Tanner has been deployed as a wing-back on occasion, it's not his natural position.

The 23-year-old is much more comfortable in a forward position driving at opposition defences and stretching the pitch, although his lack of end product and Parkinson's ability to remodel Ryan Longman as a right-sided wing-back could see Tanner reinvented in North Wales.
