Leeds United's Mateo Joseph has been linked with a permanent move away from Elland Road this summer, with Wrexham reportedly keen on signing him.

Wrexham could be in for an interesting summer transfer window ahead, with Phil Parkinson's side potentially preparing for life in the Premier League.

The Championship side are currently sat seventh in the second tier standings during the international break, and have been in great form since the turn of the New Year, which has put them in with a serious chance of challenging the likes of Hull City, Southampton, and Derby County for a place in the play-offs.

Owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney haven't been shy in investing in the Wrexham squad to strengthen as they've progressed up the English football pyramid.

It seems as though the Wrexham owners could be diving back into the transfer market to back Parkinson if the club are promoted, with a Leeds outcast seemingly on their radar.

It has been reported by MOT Leeds News that the Red Dragons are keen on striking an agreement with Leeds United for Mateo Joseph, who has fallen down the pecking order in Daniel Farke's plans at Elland Road.

The forward has been with Leeds since 2022, and has scored six goals in 73 appearances for the Yorkshire-based side over the years. It's worth taking his goalscoring record with a pinch of salt, as the Spanish youth international hasn't been a regular starter for Leeds, both in the Premier League and the Championship.

Joseph is currently out on loan with Spanish side, RCD Mallorca, and hasn't had the best of spells in front of goal with them, as he's scored just twice in 29 appearances in all competitions.

Wrexham are said to be eyeing a move for the 22-year-old if they win promotion into the Premier League, with a deal not being financially viable if they remain in the Championship.

Joseph is rumoured to be heading for the exit door at Elland Road, and Wrexham could be a tempting move for the forward, especially if they make it four successive promotions this term.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson already has some strong options in attack, with the likes of Kieffer Moore, Sam Smith, and Nathan Broadhead being just some of those available to him, but additional reinforcements are certainly needed if they force themselves into the top-flight in the coming months.

Leeds' previous valuation of Joseph

It was previously revealed that Leeds valued Joseph in the region of £15million, but it is thought that they'd accept half of that heading into the summer transfer window.

At the age of 22, you'd like to think that he's still got his best years ahead of him, and the Whites might be reluctant to sell, especially if they're to be relegated from the Premier League this season.

Leeds are sat 15th in the top-flight standings, and are just four points clear of the relegation zone heading into the final seven matches of this year's league campaign.

Joseph will be keen to finish the season strongly with RCD Mallorca though, who are battling to stay in La Liga, as they currently occupy a spot in the relegation zone.

For now though, Wrexham will be focused on their attempt to finish in the top-six in the Championship table, and they're set to take on relegation-threatened West Brom at The Hawthorns when they return to action on Good Friday.
