The forward made his debut for the Red Dragons after signing from Sheffield United earlier this week.

The Wales international played a key role in the team taking a 1-0 lead into the half-time break, having been fouled by Ronnie Edwards inside the box to set up Josh Windass’ penalty.

However, he was taken off just shy of 10 minutes into the second half after going down with an injury, with Wrexham ultimately suffering a 2-1 loss.

Parkinson has confirmed that the club are planning to assess Moore’s injury as quickly as they can, indicating that the substitution was not precautionary.

He praised the forward’s performance against the Saints, claiming his absence for most of the second half was a blow.

"Losing Kieffer with his injury was obviously a blow for us because his performance was outstanding," said Parkinson, via Leader Live.

"Everything we know he brings to us, and we're just going to assess that injury as quickly as we can."

Sam Smith replaced Moore early in the second half, with goals from Liam Manning and Jack Stephens ultimately earning Will Still’s side all three points.

Losing Moore long-term would be a blow for Wrexham

Moore was impressive in the first half and his run to earn the penalty put Wrexham in a position to take the lead.

Parkinson will be hoping it’s a short-term issue and he’ll be back in the side soon, especially based on his performance.

But this is the risk the Red Dragons took by spending big on a player that only made 27 league appearances last season, and is now 33-years-old.

Wrexham were ultimately undone after Moore went off, with the team struggling to control the game and the pressure from Southampton in the final third eventually told.

Wrexham’s summer transfer business

Moore was one of eight confirmed additions to the Wrexham first team squad over the summer transfer window prior to the clash against Southampton.

This was the forward’s first appearance for the club, with the likes of Lewis O’Brien, Liberato Cacace, Conor Coady, Ryan Hardie, Windass and Danny Ward all also earning their debuts.

The Red Dragons have until 1 September to conclude any remaining business before the market shuts until January, and will hope they won't be forced back into the market in order to source another striker should Moore's injury be a serious one.

Next up for Wrexham in the league is a home clash against West Brom on 16 August.
