Wrexham are one of the most exciting projects in football, and they might be the perfect move for recent Reading outcast Ovie Ejaria.

Ejaria left Reading by mutual consent just a few weeks ago, and is now looking for a new club after a turbulent couple of years with the Royals.

The midfielder is obviously a talented player, but injury issues have hampered his development, and despite only leaving the club in December, Ejaria hadn't featured for the club since 11th October 2022.

Ejaria will likely have a number of options to choose from, but if Wrexham were to come in for the 26-year-old, we believe it would be the perfect move for the former Liverpool man.

Not only are Wrexham soaring on the pitch, but their Hollywood-backed story has seen them become one of the biggest franchises in football.

Ejaria's career has never really taken off

An extremely talented youngster at Liverpool, Ejaria was tipped to have a successful career having represented England at all youth levels, but it hasn't really panned out how he was probably expecting thus far.

After making eight appearances for the Liverpool first-team as a teenager, Ejaria then spent time on loan at both Sunderland and Rangers in quick succession, but didn't set the world alight at either club.

It wasn't until his loan move to Reading in 2018 where he began to really impress on the pitch, so much so that the Royals opted to purchase the midfielder in 2020 for a reported fee of around £3 million.

But injuries began to hamper Ejaria's career, and a couple of stop-start seasons saw the former Liverpool youngster struggling to pick up any rhythm, eventually leading to his departure just a few weeks ago.

At 26-years-old, there's still plenty of time for the former Liverpool man to turn things around, but he'll need to get his next decision right if he wants to succeed anytime soon.

And that's where Wrexham come in; a glamorous prospect on and off the pitch, the Welsh side could be the spark that reignites Ejaria's career.

Taken over by Hollywood actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds in 2021, the club have flourished since and the media coverage, helped by the club's Disney documentary, has seen the club become one of the most interesting projects in the football league.

After getting promoted from the National League last season with a record points tally, Phil Parkinson's side are once again flying-high, and currently sit second in League Two just two points, and a game in hand, behind Mansfield Town in first.

Big names like Ben Foster, Steven Fletcher and James McClean are just a few of the stars that have been attracted to the project, and if they were to come in for him, then it would be hard for Ejaria to turn down.

Whilst he obviously has the ability to play at a higher level, using League Two as a foundation to get his career back on track could be a smart option for the midfielder.

According to reports from Football Insider, Plymouth Argyle are weighing-up a move for Ejaria, and whilst it would be an exciting prospect for him to go back to the Championship, League Two might be a smarter move for the 26-year-old.

Of course, the quality of football isn't as high, but League Two is certainly a competitive league, with the top four all within five points of each other.

Especially with the coverage Wrexham get, Ejaria could seriously reignite his career if he performs well in Wales. The 26-year-old provided five assists in his first two Championship seasons, so there are no doubts he'd flourish in League Two if he picks up his form; something as simple as being too good for the level might be all Ejaria needs to get on track. That is, obviously, something he's not going to find at Plymouth.

Wrexham currently play with a rather defensive five-back set-up, and apart from Elliott Lee, they currently lack a bit of creativity in midfield. With Ejaria's close-controlled-style dribbling, he would really stand out in the Wrexham side and add a bit of spark to their side as they aim for back-to-back promotions.
