Wrexham fell short of the Championship play-offs after a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough, while Hull clinched sixth on a dramatic final day.

Wales Online reports that Phil Parkinson’s side needed a win and, having recovered from an early deficit to lead, were pegged back to a draw.

Derby City were beaten by Sheffield United, ending their hopes, while Hull came from behind to defeat Norwich. Debate then focused on Oli McBurnie’s second goal, which appeared marginally offside in the build-up.

Pundit Clinton Morrison argued McBurnie was well beyond the last defender, while former referee Mike Dean also judged him offside, though by a smaller margin.

Norwich’s late penalty appeals were dismissed, and some supporters claimed Wrexham were robbed, pointing to the decision and limited added time.

The goal stood and no spot kick was given, which ultimately secured Hull’s play-off place. The Tigers face Millwall over two legs, with either Middlesbrough or Southampton awaiting at Wembley. Wrexham must regroup for next season.
