Manchester City have announced the signing of German international Carlotta Wamser on a four-year deal. The 22-year-old joins the Women’s Super League champions from Bayer Leverkusen, having joined the German side in July 2025.
Wamser will don the No.37 shirt for Andrée Jeglertz’s side as she joins her international teammate Rebecca Knaak in Manchester City’s defensive line-up. Alongside appearances for Leverkusen, Wamser has also featured for SGS Essen, Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Köln.
Wamser has earned 14 caps for Germany, finding the back of the net on two occasions. The full-back was part of Christian Wück’s side which reached the semi-finals of the 2025 Euros, having also featured in the U17 Euros winning squad back in 2019.
Speaking on the move, Wamser said, “It feels very, very good to be joining City. I had a perfect welcome here, and I already feel very good here. I look forward to my time here in Manchester. The English league is the best league in the world and Manchester City is one of the best clubs in the world.
“I feel like I need the next step for my career. I feel that I can develop as a player here. And I like the challenge as well, so I think it’s the perfect step for me right now to move to Manchester.”
Director of Football, Therese Sjögran added: “We are delighted to welcome Carlotta to the Club. She is a player we’ve admired for some time and know she will bring energy, passion and a willingness to learn to the team. For such a young, exciting talent to trust us with the next step of her career is something we feel conveys a strong message of what we are building here at City. We look forward to seeing Carlotta in City Blue and seeing her grow and develop during her time with us.”
